As long as I can remember we had Christmas Dinner at my mum's place. When we were younger, she used to do the cooking, later we all joined in and did our part. The last couple of times there was some grumbling from certain familymembers and this year they announced they'd rather go for a meal to a chinese restaurant with the family then have the stress of a family christmas dinner. We were so shocked that we agreed at first, but realized very soon that this is not how we want to celebrate our christmas diner. With all due respect to the Chinese and the people who love to go there for their Christmas dinner, I love the bustling in the kitchen together and the stress that goes with it. My daughter also hates the idea as she is even more traditional about Christmas as I am. We suggested taking on the entire Christmas dinner over at our place and doing the cooking, but they wouldn't budge, they wanted to go the Chinese restaurant. So we called it off, we'll be spending time with our children on Christmas Eve and enjoy our Christmas together and next year we'll start our own new Christmas tradition. But I still think it's a shame this one has ended.
